What impact does the fashion industry have on the environment and climate change? 

 The term "Sustainable Fashion" refers to the design, production, manufacturing, promotion and distribution of clothing and the effect that these garments have on the climate. 

According to BBC's SMART GUIDE TO CLIMATE CHANGE, THE FASHION INDUSTRY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR 10% OF THE GREENHOUSE EMISSIONS GLOBALLY, AS WELL AS 20% OF WASTEWATER. 

" The UN estimates that a single pair of jeans requires a kilogram of cotton. And because cotton tends to be grown in dry environments, producing this kilo requires about 7,500–10,000 litres of water. That’s about 10 years’ worth of drinking water for one person."

How can brands be more sustainable?

As consumers, we are the change. By purchasing and being more cognizant of where and what we buy. Companies will have to change their offering to meet changing consumer demands. We need to prioritize the environment and make alternative changes through our consumption habits with the goal of reinventing the Fashion Industry.

How can you be a more effective consumer? 

As consumers, it is our responsibility to be aware of the products we purchase and where they come from. By contributing to more positive and sustainable brands and companies we reduce the carbon footprint of the company as well as ourselves, families and communities. A great way to ensure that you are purchasing from environmentally friendly brands is by :
