Waste baking is not something that is easy. Baking requires many materials that come from the ingredient packaging to the paper liners for cake tins. People bake things every day, whether it is a simple chocolate cake or creme brulee. When baking the waste produced either comes from you
ingredients
like baking powder, flour, sugar or baking soda. Your waste can also come from your
decorations
like icing bags, sprinkle bottles or cupcake holders. You can reduce your waste by purchasing organic
bulk
goods from local farmers markets or grocery stores and instead of buying it in your usual plastic bag you can bring your own mason jar to fill it.
Additionally, you can use
silicone
cake tin liners or
decomposable
beeswax paper in glass and metal cake and pie dishes. In the old days, our grandmothers buttered and floured their ca
ke tins as part of the process. They also purchased eggs which were organic and did not come in plastic trays.
