Zero Waste Birthday Party!

When it comes to planning your birthday party, you imagine many presents, delisious cakes and food as well as out of this world themes. However, many people look past the fact of the amount of plastic and garbage that is being thrown away.  I would like to present to you various sustainable ideas that not only allow you to enjoy your big day but allow you to make a positive contribution to the planet. To begin this process start by saying NO to plastic straws, foam plates or disposable decorations.

  1. Invitations- Instead of using paper invitations that are thrown away imidietley after your birthday party is over, a Zero Waste option can be using electronic invitations. Doing this digitally will create a greater impact on the enviroment, this will aslo create a better sense of convinience. 
  2.  Snacks or Cake- Having Zero Waste snacks aswell as birthday cake is a great option for you. In a previous blog, disscussed how to bake while encorperating Zero Waste. Additionaly, doing this will allow a healthy and organic range of snacks for all.
  3. Decorations- While it may seem challenging, using Zero Waste decorations has a huge impact on your party. You can find a variety of Zero Waste decorations. For instance; you can use a paper or reusable homemade banner, you can use paper pom poms or paper birthday hats, plates cups and bamboo cutlery. 
  4. Loot Bags- Instead of using candy or small plastic toys similarly to every other birthday party. You can place Zero Waste items in your lootbag which can help your guests step on the path to living a Zero Waste lifestyle.
